ARAES OF PRACTICE

Family Conflict Counselling

Family relationships can be the source of our deepest connection , and our deepest hurt. When conflict becomes chronic, or when communication repeatedly breaks down, counselling can help you find more solid ground, even when the relationship itself cannot be fixed.

WHAT IT IS

What Is Family Conflict Counselling?

Family conflict counselling supports individuals navigating difficult, painful, or stuck dynamics within their family of origin or current family system. This includes conflict with parents, siblings, children, or extended family, and everything from ongoing communication breakdowns to estrangement and grief over relationships that have changed.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I’m not sure whether to maintain or end the relationship?

That ambivalence is exactly what this work holds space for, so you don’t need to have made a decision. The process itself can help you gain clarity over time.

I am neurodivergent and my family doesn’t understand that. Is that something you can work with?

Yes, and it is something we see often, as undiagnosed or unacknowledged neurodivergence within family systems can create specific dynamics that we work within directly.

Does my family member need to come to sessions?

No, as this is individual counselling.
