Neurodivergent Affirming Counselling
What is Neurodivergent Affirming Counselling?
“Neuro” refers to the nervous system, and “diversity” refers to variation or difference. Neurodiversity describes the natural variation in how the nervous system functions and processes information, including ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and other ways of thinking and experiencing the world.
Neurodivergent-affirming counselling offers a space that affirms these differences, challenges traditional deficit-based views of neurodivergence, and recognizes neurodivergence as an inherent and meaningful aspect of identity, rather than something to be pathologized or corrected.
